From the White House to the Wildwood Beach, Pop Stars Nico & Vinz to Headline at BeachGlow Music Festival 2016
The internationally-acclaimed, award-winning, multi-platinum pair will donate their set to help fund music programs in Wildwood and Philadelphia public schools.
Wildwood, NJ, May 3, 2016 – BeachGlow: Concerts for Charity, Inc., is thrilled to announce that award-winning pop duo Nico & Vinz will perform – and donate their headlining performance – at BeachGlow Music Festival 2016, on the beach in Wildwood, NJ, on July 8 – 9. Norwegian-born and Los Angeles-based Nico & Vinz join a lineup of at least 12 acts over the two-day, multi-genre event, and are the biggest act to take the stage free-of-charge in the name of BeachGlow’s mission to raise awareness and funds for charities that benefit youth. Like last year, this year BeachGlow will donate festival proceeds to national nonprofit Little Kids Rock, which will use 100 percent of the donation to bring music programs, teacher-training, and new musical instruments to underserved public schools in Wildwood and Philadelphia. Last year, Little Kids Rock was able to set up music programs at 10 Atlantic City and Philadelphia public schools from funds raised at BeachGlow Music Festival 2015, in Atlantic City.
“In Norway, we have an organization similar to Boys & Girls Clubs, where kids can go after school and play sports, dance, and record music,” reveals Nico. “It was crucial in the early stages of our careers to have access to those studios to develop our love and talent for music. So when a charity like BeachGlow gives us an opportunity to support a program like Little Kids Rock, it really hits close to home. We are super excited to be a part of the event and can't wait to see everyone in Wildwood on July 9th.”
Nico & Vinz regularly support causes they believe in and have played UNICEF’s Snowflake Ball with Jill Scott, the UN AIDS Gala in Switzerland, and World AIDS Day in South Africa alongside Zendaya. The pair also hit the stage at Glamour magazine’s “The Power of an Educated Girl,” whose audience included First Lady Michelle Obama and Academy Award winner Charlize Theron. The First Family went on to invite them to perform at the National Christmas Tree Lighting and even added their music to the White House’s official playlist.
Following the immense success of their double-platinum smash “Am I Wrong” and breakout full-length debut album Black Star Elephant, Nico & Vinz hopped between continents sharing stages with everyone from Usher across Europe and Bruno Mars throughout North America to Taylor Swift in Vancouver. So when it came time to create their 2015 Cornerstone EP [Warner Bros. Records], the award-winning multi-platinum duo thought globally. “Going everywhere and meeting all of these different kinds of people opens up the boundaries for the creative process,” says Vinz. You start to ask, ‘How can we make a song that feels equally good to the woman in Japan, our friends in Norway, the guy in the United States, and the little girl in Ghana?’”
BeachGlow’s 21-year-old founder and CEO Dane Kunkel is delighted to have Nico & Vinz, not only because they are amongst pop music’s elite -- having taken home “Best New Artist” at The Soul Train Awards, jammed with The Roots during Grammy Week, headlined ESSENCE Festival in New Orleans, and scored a placement in EA’s FIFA 15 – but because of their philanthropic nature.
“I feel a kinship with them, because we share a common cause,” says Kunkel. “Much the way Nico & Vinz approach their music, I created BeachGlow because I witnessed the power music has to tear down barriers among all walks of life, and bring people together for a common cause.”
Also headlining during the two days at BeachGlow Music Festival 2016 are artists Audien, Slander, and a third to be announced. Other musical acts include Elephante, Gazzo, Fareoh, Two Friends, Synchronice, and Dane. Opening Saturday will be a Little Kids Rock high school band.

BeachGlow: Concerts for Charity, Inc. is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization that gives 100 percent of its proceeds to charity. The company was founded in 2011 by Dane Kunkel, who was 16 at the time and wanted to combine his passion for music with his desire to give back to society – by helping young people, through the power of popular music, help young people. Little Kids Rock is a national nonprofit that is dedicated to unlocking children’s inner music makers by revitalizing music education in public schools.
